MRLLP Website Redesign

Industry: Law
Project Type: Development

"At long last, the reimagined Michelman Robinson website is live. It's been a long and at times arduous process, but the end result is fantastic, and I have Madison to thank for that. If there were a Yelp for web development, a review of Madison (and WhatArmy) would be impossible. There simply aren't enough stars!"

The Challenge

"Though our previous site was relatively new, it already felt dated and didn't reflect the caliber or stature of our firm. It lacked a distinctive edge and didn't set us apart from competing law firm websites."

Paul Zimmerman Director of Communications & PR, MRLLP

Despite being recently launched, MRLLP's old website did not keep pace with the firm's growth or evolving brand. With a rebrand underway, including a new abbreviated name, updated logo, fresh color palette, and refined messaging, the firm required a digital presence to match.

Yet one of the biggest hurdles was achieving consensus among firm leadership on design direction. The firm was paying five different vendors, and not one of them took responsibility when issues arose.

The Solution

The finished product is a sophisticated, content-rich site that serves both as a marketing tool and a resource hub.

Platform

WordPress with Elementor for in-house flexibility.

Content Volume

Over 600 pieces of content seamlessly migrated.

Features
  • Integration of articles, blogs, podcasts, media mentions, events, and headlines in a unified system.
  • First-ever use of embedded video on the firm's site.
  • Microanimations for a modern user experience.
  • Mobile-first, responsive design.

Our Approach

WhatArmy's work outlined a five-phase methodology in close collaboration with Right Hat:

  • Aligned design parameters with development requirements in partnership with Right Hat.
  • Evaluated feasibility of 10 design templates provided by the branding team.
  • Identified potential development challenges early.
  • Incorporated Right Hat into QA to ensure fidelity to wireframes and design intent.
  • Rethemed the site in WordPress using Elementor.
  • Integrated new branding assets (logos, fonts, colors).
  • Installed SEO tools and essential plugins.
  • Built microanimations throughout the site for an enhanced user experience.
  • Resolved design-to-development conflicts, adding customizations as needed.
  • Ensured seamless integration of third-party tools and optimized performance.
  • Configured contact forms and established site structure.
  • Uploaded new copy, imagery, and videos.
  • Adapted and restructured content to fit template constraints.
  • Conducted thorough QA across browsers and devices.
  • Addressed SEO, accessibility, and performance concerns.
  • Worked closely with Right Hat to validate alignment with design specifications.
  • Completed SEO best practices, Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools setup.
  • Resolved final discrepancies with Right Hat.
  • Launched during business hours.

Duration: The project was scoped at 6 to 8 weeks from receipt of approved designs. Delays occurred only due to internal approvals, not WhatArmy's responsiveness.

"The back-and-forth on design, between leadership and our branding agency, took significant time. It was certainly an intense process, but the extended timeline was entirely due to our internal decision-making, not WhatArmy. They delivered their work incredibly promptly at every step."
